ABOUT

Write to Comedy is where sitcom obsession becomes an art form. It’s a home for smart analysis, sharp opinions, and the occasional rant disguised as cultural insight. Mostly British comedy, sometimes American, and every so often a detour into whatever corner of TV makes me mutter “why did they write it like that?

You’ll get top tens, episode breakdowns, character dissections, nostalgia-fuelled tangents, and the kind of deep dives that begin with one joke and somehow end in a lecture on structure, theme, or the meaning of life. It’s not a masterclass. It’s more like chatting with a friend who rewatches Spaced for comfort and has very firm thoughts about the UK Office vs the US one (all correct, obviously).

Write to Comedy has grown into a place for proper exploration: why sitcoms work, why they fail, why they linger, and why some of them accidentally become social commentary when no one meant them to. If you care about comedy craft, TV history, or the power of a perfectly timed line, you’re in exactly the right spot.

HELLO

I'm Jacquie J Sarah

I’m a UK-based writer, script editor, and performer who loves stories with humour, heart, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. I write comedy and drama that’s character-led, slightly sharp around the edges, and very often based on people I absolutely cannot admit to knowing.

I’m part of BAFTA Connect and have worked across theatre, audio, and screen — from ten produced plays to a handful of original podcasts under my Deliciously Bright umbrella. Through Deliciously Bright & Co, I also help other creatives sort out their ideas, shape their projects, and actually finish the things they’ve been talking about for ages.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually busy overthinking sitcoms, pulling them apart for fun, or trying to explain why one throwaway joke from 2009 still lives rent-free in my brain. Basically, I’m forever finding new ways to prove that comedy is never just about laughs.
